ABOUT US - Mō Mātou

OUR PURPOSE - Tō Mātou Pūtake

To enhance community wellbeing through CONNECTION, ENGAGEMENT and GROWING COMPETENCY - Whakapiki i te Oranga Hapori mā te Whakawhanaungatanga, te Whakangungu, me te Whakapakari Āheinga.

OUR VALUES - Ko ngā whāinga o mātou

1. Inclusiveness - Whakaruia

For all the people of the STRATH TAIERI  catchment.

2. Fairness - Tika

To all of the relationships that support this TRUST, and the people/groups we have yet to meet.

3. Building Resilience - Whakapakari

For current and future groups/individuals in our region.

OUR GOALS - Nga Whāinga

What area are we focused on?

CONNECTION - Whakawhanaungatanga

To make the Strath Taieri region an even more connected community, where people love to live, contribute and engage.

We will achieve this by supporting the building of resilience through targeted funding of community initiatives over time.

( Kia whakapau kaha te whakawhanaungatanga i te rohe o Strath Taieri, kia ngākau nui te hunga e noho ana, e whaiwhakaaro ana, e whai wāhi ana ki ngā kaupapa hou. )

ENGAGEMENT - Whakawhanaungatanga

Over time,  people in our community will become more connected, become part of initiatives/events, contribute to new ideas, and welcome support and feedback to continue enhancing our piece of paradise.  All positive trends that lead to an increased level of Community Engagement.

The TRUST is committed to growing the skills and competencies of our people to undertake projects and initiatives that they are passionate about.

Therefore, enhancing technology skills is a Trust focus and we hope our courses will energise people to go after their passions and with our help, if needed.

( Kia whakapau kaha te kaupapa ki te whakapakari i ngā pūkenga me ngā āheinga o ngā tāngata ki te whakahaere i ngā kaupapa, i ngā whakahirahira rātou e whaiwhakaaro ana. )

OUR IMMEDIATE PLAN - Tō Mātou Mahere Ā-Muri

As a relatively new organisation, we have already achieved a lot.

Funding a dedicated Coordinator to drive the work of the Trust

Right now, Rebecca Costelloe is doing a great job with support from MPI, Dunedin City Council, Department of Internal Affairs, and the Catalytic Foundation. When her current term ends, we'll be looking for funds to keep her on board.

Please make yourself known to Rebecca if you have any queries regarding Applications for Funding or any of the TRUSTS initiatives.

Understanding future community need to drive Trust development

Being connected is crucial for understanding our future, making our effort to update the Strath Taieri Phone Book a promising beginning.

Additionally, the TRUST is exploring future projects to regularly assess our community wellness and foster face-to-face connections with local groups. Stay tuned for updates!  Read more
